What is a Fascia Gutter?

Aug 16, 2010 by

Topic: Guttering, What Is

When installing new gutters on the roof of your property, you have quite a few options to choose from. One that you may not be that familiar with is the fascia gutter.  To help you understand what a fascia gutter is and if it may be suited for you, we’ve put together this guide. Read on for more.

About Fascia Gutters

A fascia gutter is a type of gutter that combines the gutter with the fascia into one system.  As it is an all in one thing, the gutter is meant to be installed directly to the roof rafters without the need for the traditional timber fascia.  It is alternatively known as an eaves gutter. Fascia gutters are ideal for use on homes that have been built without the traditional fascia boards.

Options in Fascia Gutters

Fascia gutters can be made from Zincalume or Colorbond and they can be used in both residential and commercial situations. They are more commonly used in residential situations however and are compatible with steel and tiled roofs.  You can find them in a range of colours to suit your home and in a plain or slotted finish (slotted may be preferred so that water overflows out of the slots during heavy rainfall or when there is a blockage).  Concealed or exposed brackets can be used to fix the guttering.

Fascia gutters are available in a range of profiles and one popular one is a high fronted finish so that the edges of roof sheets and tiles are concealed and also so that water carrying capacity is improved.  You can easily combine your fascia gutter with a gutter protection system in order to keep leaves and debris from causing blockages and to prevent birds, insects and vermin from gaining entry to your roof space.

Fascia gutters are easy to install and they come in continuous lengths. For less wastage, the gutters can be custom cut if required.
