Steam Cleaned Carpets

Are your carpets looking a little worse for wear? Steam cleaning, or hot water extraction, is the most effective way to revitalize and clean your carpets, leaving them looking like new!

Why Should Carpets be Steam Cleaned?

Carpets need to be steam cleaned periodically because they accumulate dirt and other debris such as sand, pet hair, dust, dust mites, mould, mildew, pollen, bacteria, and insect residue. If these contaminants are not removed, the lifespan of the carpet is shortened. The contaminants cannot be completely removed by a normal vacuum cleaner and they work their way deep into the carpet, damaging the fibres.

Regular steam cleaning may also be required to ensure that the carpet’s warranty remains valid and it is recommended by all of the major carpet manufacturers.

The Steam Cleaning Process

The process begins with the professional pre-inspecting the carpet to be cleaned to see what stains there are and how dirty the carpet is. Furniture is then moved where necessary. Difficult stains are pre-treated to increase the chances of them being removed during the cleaning process. Warm detergent is then sprayed onto the carpet and injected into the pile using a high-pressure water spray. A special vacuum then sucks up all the water and dirt. Only the carpet fibres are wetted during this process – the underlay, backing materials and floorboards should stay dry. Carpets will be dry to the touch shortly after cleaning is completed and totally dry within 24 hours.

Why Use Professionals?

You should only use professionals when steam cleaning your carpets. If the carpet is cleaned incorrectly, the carpet may become too wet and cause permanent distortion and damage. Professional steam cleaners will also ensure that all the detergent is removed from the carpet so that the carpet remains cleaner for a longer period of time. When hiring a professional, ensure that they include the price of stain removal, heavy soiling, deodorizing and furniture moving in the quote. This will save any hidden surprises!
