With water usage becoming an increasingly concerning factor in many Australian homes, people are looking for more ways in which they can save water without scrimping on comfort. One way they can do this is by installing the right shower for them.
The good news is that showers use less water than they ever have. By buying a water efficient showerhead, only nine litres of water per minute is used. The old conventional showerheads used as much as 22 litres of water per minute. Simply by switching your showerhead, you can save up to 65 litres of water every five minutes. And the best news? You don’t have to sacrifice the water pressure to do so! The shower will feel just as good as it used to. Good news for those that remember those pin-prick jets of water from the old-style hotel showers.
Showers are also taking more of a dominant role in the bathroom, being made a part of the overall design rather than just placed into a convenient corner. One design trick that is being used is to have the shower take advantage of the views. Glass panels or large windows are used where appropriate in order to create an open-air feel.
While bathrooms are thought of as being typically small spaces, tricks such as frameless shower screens and large glass panels are being used in order to create a feeling of more space. Glass creates a feeling of style in any bathroom, from modern to traditional, while chrome fixtures are often used to create a feeling of sleekness and minimalisms.
But perhaps the most exciting thing in the new showers is the range of showerheads that are now available. The showers can be mounted vertically from the ceiling or horizontally from the wall. There are rain-style showerheads that recreate the feeling of being outdoors in the rain. Other showerheads offer more than one function, so that you can shower according to your preference at the time. Such functions include a massage spray, a soft spray, or a normal spray. It is even possible to have multiple showerheads installed in the one shower for a true “surrounded by water” showering experience.
