Painting Your Old Tiles

Are your tiles looking a little worse for wear but you don’t want to replace them?  There is another option.  Painting your tiles is a cost effective way to get them looking like new once again and it’s so simple, you can even do it yourself.  Read on to learn more.

What is Tile Paint?

Tile paint is specifically designed to improve the look of tiles and it can be used to decorate or change the colour of any tiled surface, excluding floors.  It can be used in bathrooms, kitchens, laundries, and in wet areas such as shower recesses and splashbacks.  You can even use tile pain on worn tiles or tiles in less than stellar condition.  The tiles don’t have to be in top condition in order to get a fantastic finish as the tile paint brings them to a completely uniform finish.

The Advantages of Tile Paint

The key to the whole process is the water-based tile and laminate primer.  It easily adheres to repaired tiles as well as standard tiles.  If your tiles are cracked or broken, it is possible to repair the tile first or even replace it if you wish before the primer is applied.  Tile paint comes in a high gloss finish that dries to a very hard finish and replicates the look of new ceramic tiles.  Because of the durability of the finish, you don’t have to worry about the paint chipping off or otherwise wearing.  It’s perfect for getting years of extra wear out of your tiles.  The paint is fully tintable so that you can choose from thousands of colours when painting your tiles.  This makes it perfect for matching to an existing colour scheme or even basing a whole new theme around your tiles, if you so wish.

Painting Tiles – You Can Do It Yourself!

The best part of the system is that you can easily do it yourself.  Simply clean the tiles, prime them, and then paint.  You can use a grout pen to get fresh, clean grout lines.  It is important to follow the instructions and use good quality painting equipment however.
