Feng Shui is a valuable tool within your home. By improving your home’s entrance using Feng Shui principles, you can improve the level of success you achieve in all areas of your life, and improve the flow of energy or Chi throughout your home.
To achieve the best flow of Chi throughout your home, you should ensure that there are no obstacles. The Chi should also not flow in a direct line, but instead take a more curved, meandering path. For this reason, entrances to the home should not be located in direct lines with each other. If they are, an easy solution to this is to use a large indoor plant or a screen in order to break up the straight lines.
The flow of Chi does not start when you open your front door. Rather, it comes in from the street and thus you should ensure that your landscaping features curving driveways or pathways, and gently curved garden beds. Adding water in the form of a pond, water feature, or even a birdbath will also help with the flow of positive Chi.
The size of the door itself also plays an important part in the overall Feng Shui of your entranceway. If the door is too large, it is possible for the Chi to escape from the home. This problem can be remedied by hanging some wind chimes outside the door. Wind chimes also stop negative energy from entering the home. If your door is too small, not enough Chi will be able to enter the home. However, this can be remedied by placing a mirror on either side of the door or on a wall directly opposite the door.
Where you choose to actually put your front door has a bearing on the home’s Feng Shui as well. If you are building a new home, do not place the front door in line with a staircase. This will help the Chi to flow better around the lower level of your home. The front door should also not face any trees, lampposts, or objects with sharp corners as these can obstruct the positive Chi from flowing freely into your home.
If you do not use your front door to enter your home, preferring instead to enter via a garage door or a side door, it is important that you treat the door you enter through in the same manner as you would your front door. The door you enter through the most takes on the most significance and it needs to be embellished and decorated in the same manner as you would decorate your formal entrance.
The best Feng Shui in your home will come from having an entranceway that is spacious and free from clutter. This will allow energy to enter your home in an unrestricted manner. Lighting is also important – your entranceway should be well lit by either natural or artificial lighting. Ensure that your entry has some windows or doors that lead from them, as an entranceway that feels enclosed will cause the Chi to stagnate. If you cannot install a door or windows, you can use a water fountain, ceiling fan or mirrors to correct the problem.
