About Day Beds
Daybeds can be made from metal, wood or wicker, or a combination of metal and wood. The frame is usually made from three pieces that includes two side panels and one back panel. Daybeds can be single in size or double. Most daybeds will come with a mattress that fits the frame already but if they don’t, or you need to replace the mattress, it should be a simple matter of measuring the frame and finding a mattress that fits. The key is to ensure that the mattress is not too high or it may not fit on the frame properly, and it can end up looking weird.
Decorating the Day Bed
The day bed will end up becoming one of the main focal points for the room so you should ensure that it decorated in the style that you want and that complements the rest of the area. Day bed linens are available in a huge range of options, and you can add accessories such as cushions and throw rugs to add your own unique touch. You can opt for a simple style that will stand up to children climbing over it, in fabrics such as hardy cotton, or you can opt for grand opulence, with bright silks and satins to evoke an Eastern or Moroccan flair. If you want the day bed to look more like a sofa, there are skirts and valances available. These will hide the floor space, and give you the added freedom of using underneath the day bed for extra storage.
