Topic: Cladding
If you are after a type of cladding that is attractive, will last a very long time, and that creates a wide of looks, look no further than aluminium cladding. Here’s what you need to know.
Aluminium cladding is a type of cladding system that is made from aluminium, a lightweight but strong metal. The aluminium itself is powder coated or anodised in order to protect it. Aluminium cladding is available as boards or panels that are affixed to the exterior of the house in order to improve its aesthetics and also to protect it from the elements.
Aluminium is a great choice for cladding as it is lightweight thus easy to install, it is very durable, it is resistant to moisture and saltwater, it is impervious to termites and other insects, and it handles harsh weather conditions very well. It is also very low in maintenance as all you need to do is give it a clean with a mild detergent and water once or twice a year. Aluminium cladding also allows the house behind it to “breathe” so there is very little risk of your home leaking. Most aluminium cladding systems come with their own flashings and corners.
Aluminium cladding can be fitted with insulation on the back or have insulation installed underneath it in order to improve its energy efficiency and make your home more comfortable to live in.
If you are thinking about using aluminium cladding for your building, you’ll be glad to know that it is very versatile and it can be used to create a variety of looks. For example, you could use aluminium cladding boards to create a traditional look or you can use cladding panels to create a sleek modern look that has few lines. If you are using powder coated aluminium, you also have a choice of colour, as the powder coating is available in many different shades.
You also have the choice of combining aluminium cladding with other materials such as stone, timber or cement in order to create interesting architectural designs. Aluminium cladding is a little more expensive than other cladding materials but it will last for a very long time and some of your costs will be recouped by it being faster and easier to put up.
