This includes wearing clothes that are not too baggy and likely to get caught anywhere; and also wearing protective equipment such as a hard hat when required.
- A clean worksite is a safe worksite. It is important to make sure your working area is clear as to avoid slipping over and causing potentially catastrophic outcomes. Make sure onlookers are of a safe distance away from workers to avoid accidents.
- Hazards involving power tools can be prevented by regular maintenance and making sure you use the right tool for the right job.
- Avoid using power tools in a dangerous environment. This includes a damp or explosive atmosphere. Also try to be aware of all power lines, water pipes and electrical circuits in your work environment.
- When handling power tools, be wary of the chord. Never handle by holding the chord and never yank the chord from the wall. Keep the chord away from heat and sharp objects. Be sure to disconnect your power tool when performing maintenance.
